The origin of Mimir

The name of the app derives from a figure in Norse mythology, sometimes also called "The Rememberer", who was the wisest of all the gods of the Aesir.

In an unfortunate fate, Mimir was beheaded and later brought back to life as a disembodied head by Odin, who sought after his great intellect and secrets of the world. Odin then carried Mimir with him for his counsel, stories, and sage advice.

The story of Mimir reminds me of the podcasts we carry with us that teach, inspire, and unlock the stories of the world. Plus, Norse themes are really cool.

About the Developer

Hey, thanks for checking out the app. I'm a professional contract developer and Mimir is my passion project to make a great podcast experience for macOS. Sully is half basset, half puggle and always in a good mood. He thinks podcasts are just okay.

Over the years I wanted to create a simple but powerful quick interface that focused solely on podcast listening and felt the platform was lacking the kind of interface I really wanted to use for my desktop. Thus, I got to work in 2016 and Mimir was born.

For over three years while working between projects, Mimir has gone through many iterations to try and make a sleek and usable interface. I hope to support the app for years to come, so if you enjoy the app consider supporting development!
